Discovery Learning Time
28 November 2012

"Students who participate and contribute in communities have a sense of belonging and the confidence to participate in new contexts.
They understand the importance of balancing rights, roles and responsibilities. Discovery Time creates an authentic learning community where students
explore new ideas and transfer what they already know to new contexts. They  gain confidence to participate and contribute in a variety of learning
situations within and beyond this community"  (Gay Hay and Brenda Harris - 'Developing Key Competencies through activity-based, child-directed learning')

Numicon in the Classroom
08 May 2011

New Entrants have loved being introduced to 'NUMICON' during Maths lessons. They have been 'getting to know' the shapes by playing a number of multi-sensory games .

It hasn't taken the children long at all to become familiar with the pieces and they are now using them to order random numbers, make teen numbers and to double numbers!

The children have learnt so much in such a short amount of time!
